E-books

E-Books have to be one of biggest changes to the publishing industry ever. While many mainstream publishers and authors have jumped on this bandwagon to me one of the greatest changes is the availability of works by many new authors who either do not want to or for whatever reason have been unable to go the mainstream publisher way.

Many of these authors are writing some very good work, however they are hard to find in many cases.

Here is a list of my favorites.

James Galloway Sennadar Forums

James who also goes by the nickname Fel on the forum pages has a number of different worlds which he has based a number of series in.

The main one being the world of Sennadar where there is now a total 8 novels which are all very long by most standards, this is a world rich with magic and gods as well as multiple races.

On the forums.sennadar.com site there is an active forum and all of the latest chapters are posted there. However to get started you are better off to point your browser to weavespinner.net where you can find most of the completed stories in html, rtf and epub formats.

His latest story is Earth Bond a story of dragons in the modern world, however these dragons have been hiding from humankind and have been stealing technology from them. Having been seen by the humans one of the five types of dragons inadvertently causes a rift that the other races
of dragons take advantage causing an internal war between the dragon race while still trying to keep hidden from the humans.

Wes Boyd Spearfishlaketales.com

Wes Boyd has created a vibrant collection of stories mainly revolving around a fictional town called Spearfish Lake. He is a very prolific writer and post very regularly three chapters per week.
He currently has 29 novels completed on his site and is currently posting number 30. You can read the novels on the website in HTML format or purchase the complete novel for download from his website, If you can’t wait for him to complete the latest novel you can purchase it directly from his site in epub or many other formats.

Geoff Wolak geoffwolak-writing.com

Geoff Wolak has two very different series available on his site as well as a few stand alone novels.

Some of which are available as free downloads an the remainder are very reasonably priced.
Magestic series of time travel stories. A collection of three novels the first one which is free is over 3,000 pages in length.

The K2 series of spy novels is also a great read and into the seventh novel at the current time.
He also has a few stand alone novels which are very good.

Wayne Edward Clarke http://wayneedwardclarke.jigsy.com/

Wayne Edward Clarke is another writer who creates very long pieces of work mainly in the Sci-Fi Fantasy genre.

His Rational Future Series has two stories so far and take place on a future earth when man has recovered from disaster and is in the process of cleaning up the earth from all the damage we infilicted on it.

While he has stated there will be more, I wouldn’t hold my breath as he does not seem to be very prolific and seems to be more interested in commercializing his current works.

His second series Nexus of Kellaran starts off as a more conventional fantasy novel complete with Magic, Elfs, Dwarves and all the other fantasy species but then brings in demons and new gods both as travelers from another world.

There are two problems with is writing, Other than spelling and punctuation errors which abound.

The first and most troubling is his insistence on as he calls a stylistic choice of having no chapters he has written a number of 300,000 + word novels with no breaks.

The second was in his last book where he posted the first half of the book then hit up the readers of his previous books for a donation with the promise to receive the remainder of the book in 6 to 8 weeks. Which would have been fine if he kept his word and actually completed a story to the standard of the first half.

Instead the second half was more like 1/4 of the book and seemed rushed and then left you with a cliff hanger that could only be resolved with a third book in the series. Which at his pace could be another two years away. The current ending leave you very disappointed and with no sense of completion in any way.

Other Sites

of course no listing of free e-books would be complete without mentioning Project Gutenberg One of the largest collections of free books, most of which are copyright expired stories. So most of the old classics are available here.
