Beginning of Summer

Well Summer is almost here and we are expreincing our first nice weekend. The weather has been is in the low 20’s Yesterday and today and it is expected to carry on for the next few days as well. I think this is the first time in a while that I have had the shorts on this early in the year.

I am going to attempt to update this blog more often than i have in the past eve if it is just to drop an occasional link to an interesting article I have found.

Update

It has been a while since I last updated the site, have been very busy at work and this is the first week I have seen any signs of a downturn in the economy, but being in the service end if IT many people are choosing to repair rather than replace thier PC’s.

Christmas was cool and we actually had snow, A lot of it More than three feet of it in our front yard, It has also remained cool enough that almost two months later you can still see piles of snow in some parking lots. This is a major change from snow followed by warm heavy rain that washes it all away.

Feburary has been cool but much drier than normal and we had sun and 13 degrees today. Although clouds are predicted for the weekend.

Sony PRS-505

Couple of new things, first I now have a Sony PRS-505 Ebook Reader this is a great little unit that allow you to download ebooks and take them with you. The supplied software does not have a lot of belles and whistles as far as conversion of book formats goes but I have found a nice software package called Calibre that does a great job of allowing you to convert multiple formats to be useable on the Reader.

Battery life is great, I recently took it for a week to maui spent at least 3 hour per day reading it while on the beach as well as having enogh power to last for both the flights on a single charge, I read about 12 novels during this time.

I would highly recommend this model for any avid reader.

New Laptops.

I was looking at the Epson P-6000 Photo storage system for when I traveled to back up the photos from my camera when I came accross the new Acer Aspire One Laptop.

The Epson P-6000 has a 4 inch screen and can only be used for Photos and sells for $599.99 and even wholesale it is not much below that.

The Acer Aspire on is a full Laptop with a 8.9 inch screen and a 120gb hard drive running windows XP and It sells for $399.99. Sure I need a compact flash reader but it is still small enough to fit in my camera bag, and can be used as a full laptop as well, even has a webcam. The only down side is no CD/DVD reader/Burner but I can always network it when home.

Sept. Update

It has been a while since I have updated this blog. However not much has changed over the summer. It was not a great summer but it wasn’t the worst one either. Not as hot or as sunny as I would have liked but not a wet as it has been either.
