Upgrade Time

WordPress has announced that version 5.0 will be released shortly. In order to make sure the website continues to function I have changed back to a simple theme.

Plans are in the works for a complete rebuild of the site however it will have to wait until after all the upgrades on the back end are in place.

Last Day in Cancun

Sitting in the lobby of the Riu Palace Peninsula at the end of a great vacation.

I had to check out by noon, however my transfer to the airport will not occur until 2:00 pm. So I have a few hours to sit at the capuchino bar and enjoy a few drinks.

I still have access to all the amenities here however you pretty much want to stay in the Air conditioned sections as the outside is much too hot to be out in long pants right now.

Sunday the day after I arrived was the worst day for weather and it got better and better every day. Right now it is 29C but with the Humidity it feels like 34C right now.

Overall it was a very enjoyable vacation. There were a few changes to the hotel mostly for the good.

All the rooms got new deck chairs that are a metal and mesh fabric. Much more comfortable than the white plastic chairs from last year.

For those that would be interested they also added a beach workout area with pull-up bars and other outdoor equipment.

However I did notice a major change in the clientele there were a lot fewer Americans and a lot more British.

Fewer people were out and about in the morning. And more of the customers spent most of the evenings partying in their rooms rather than taking advantage of the bars.

This made it a bit louder in the rooms while some of the bars were very quiet.

I did have some issues with the Tour Provider however I will not mention any of these issues until they are resolved as far as the provider is willing to take it.

More to come.

Cancun 2018 – First Day

It is 7:30pm on my second day in Cancun, I really am not counting the first day as I arrived at the hotel at 5:00pm grabbed a very nice lobster in the Steakhouse had a couple of drinks and went to bed as I had been traveling for over 10 hours.

I am staying at the Riu Place Penninsula in the Hotel Zone in Cancun. This is my second stay at this resort and it looks like it will be as good as the first.

This time I have a ground floor Villa Suite with the Ocean view. I can go out my patio door andit is 20 ft to the pool.

The weather this morning was nice to start out with but by 11:00 am the rain showers had started, not enough to get me off my lounger but enough that you didn’t enjoy it very much.

By 1:00 the rain was coming down very hard and I was back on the deck of my suite. The rain continued until 4:00 or so and the wind really picked up a lot and is still blowing hard now. Hopefully the wind will blow all the clouds away.

The place appears to be at capacity with the majority of the tourists from the US, however I have met a number from Brazil, the UK and the Czech Republic.

Back from the dead

It has been a long while since I have posted anything on this iste but in reality there is nothing much new to post. I am going to make an honest effort to post more often. Perhaps if I can get more into a habit of posting on a regular basis I can start trying to make the site usefull.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Vacation time again

Well it is vacation time once again, every four or five years I get a chance or get fed up enough to just need some time away.

This time I will be visiting Cancun and staying at the Riu Palace Peninsula Resort which is an all inclusive located in the hotel zone of Cancun.

From the images I have seen online it looks like quite the place and I am looking forward to it.

I know I don’t update this blog very much but I will try to post a few images of the trip.

This is actually a test post to make sure the ipad software is connecting properly to my site after the site has been moved to my new hosting provider.
